Yes, you are allowed to purchase a SafeTrip policy no later than 11:59pm (Malaysia time) the next day after departing from Malaysia. However, it’s important to know that buying SafeTrip after you have departed (“Post-Departure Cover”), a waiting period of up to 11:59pm (Malaysia time) on the next day after your purchase of the policy applies. This means you will not be able to make a claim during this period.
Kindly note that the travel start and end dates as selected and declared by you during your purchase must match with your travel tickets (e.g. airline ticket/ flight itinerary/ boarding pass). The details will be verified upon claim.
For example, you commenced your trip to China on 1 July 2025 for the period of 1-5 July 2025. On 2 July 2025, you realise you do not have any travel insurance and decide to buy SafeTrip. Your coverage period will start from the date of purchase, i.e. from 2 July and ends on 5 July 2025. However, a waiting period applies from the actual time of purchase on 2 July until 11:59pm on 3 July 2025. You are only eligible for any benefits under this policy from 12:00am (Malaysia time) on 4 July 2025.
